Central Elementary will have a short Veterans Day assembly on Friday morning at 9:30 in the main gym. The program will be centered for students, but community members are welcome to attend and sit in the north bleachers. We appreciate our veterans!

PUBLIC NOTICE OF HEARING REGARDING ENROLLMENT OF NONRESIDENT STUDENTS’ POLICY PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given pursuant to K.S.A. 72-3126, of a public hearing to be held on the 13th day of November, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at Columbus Board of Education Office (802 South High School Avenue, Columbus, Kansas) regarding the Unified School District No. 493, Cherokee County, Kansas proposed policy to determine the number of nonresident students that the school district has the capacity to accept in each grade level for each school of the school district pursuant to K.S.A. 72-3123, and amendments thereto, including clearly specifying the reasons that the board may use to deny continued enrollment of a nonresident student who is not in good standing. A representative of the board shall present the board’s proposal for the policy, and the board shall hear testimony regarding the proposed policy. [NOTE: This notice must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the school district once a week for two consecutive weeks on the same day of each week and shall be posted on the school district’s website. K.S.A. 72-3126]
