Mrs. Easley's Kindergarten News

December 6, 2011

Dear Parents,

     Welcome to our classroom's website.  Please make sure that you check backpacks each night and return all homework and forms the next day.  It is important to go over the day's class work with your child to reinforce  the material and this will also help you to keep up with the skills we are covering.  I will also send a newsletter each Monday to keep you up to date on our activities.

     We have snacks each day in the afternoon.  Please send two snacks for twenty children at the beginning of each month.

     We have completed the Ffl booklet in reading and are ready to start letter IEe.  Adding another vowel will give us many new words to sound out.  At this time your child should know the letter names, sounds of the letters, and how to write the letters A, C, D, E, F, G, I, L, O, S, and T. These little booklets are great to use for practice at home.

     The theme for this month is Christmas.  We will learn about different holiday customs around the world.  We have a fun gift wrapping center in the classroom.  We are working on various art activities and some must remain secrets until Christmas.

     Our party will be on the afternoon of December 16th.  We will be having our Polar Express Day and children can come to school in pajamas and slippers.  We will be decorating cookies for our snacks that day.  Please send sprinkles or candies that we can use for that fun activity.  Also, we will have a book gift exchange during our party.  Please send one new, wrapped book for that event.  Please keep the cost to under $2.00.

     Our fund raiser candles are in.  Please make plans to pick them up by Friday, December 9th.  The top selling class will receive a pizza party and prizes will be awarded to the three top sellers.  This is our only fundraiser and the money earned goes to some very worthwhile causes in our school.  Our classroom's Smartboard, projector, and Elmo were all purchased with money from our fundraiser.

     W will be walking to the American Bank on December 7th. to have pictures with Santa.

     Our Christmas program is on Tuesday, December 6th at the CHS auditorium at 6:30.  Please make sure your child has used the bathroom before meeting his/her classroom at 6:25.
