About Me

My maiden name was Kelly Mitts and both of my parents, Mike and Debbie, were born and raised here in Columbus. I went to school in Columbus until 1991, when my mom's job transferred us to Stanley, Kansas. I graduated from Olathe South High School in 1996. I went to Pittsburg State University and graduated with my Elementary degree in 2000. I have been teaching 1st grade at Park for 10 years.
I married Jeff Karsten of Riverton, Kansas, in November 2003. We live 6 miles south of Columbus on family land with our 5 pound Morkie named Kosmo! Jeff works for Farmers Co-op in Baxter Springs. He also helps his dad farm and work cattle.
In my spare time, I love to read, scrapbook, watch Nascar (#88 Go Jr.!!!) and football(GO CHIEFS!), spend time with friends and family, and shop! Jeff and I both love to travel, and Colorado is one of our favorite places to visit in the summer.
I have found that teaching is what I am meant to do. I love making a difference in a child's life, and seeing a love of learning on their face, while having fun at the same time!
