Hobbies: While it couldn’t really be call a hobby, I greatly enjoy spending time with my family. I have a beautiful wife who is in her last year of teaching at Webb City before she enters into her retirement!! I’m also blessed with three wonderful children who are all happily married to equally wonderful spouses. Currently, my wife and I have two beautiful (and of course, exceptionally smart) grandchildren, and the Lord willing, we will have another by the end of this school year!
My wife and I recently moved to a wonder home overlooking Big Sugar Creek in McDonald County, Missouri, so one of my favorite things is sitting on our bluff and watching the beautiful river flow by. Of course, when the weather allows, I also love wading in it and fishing for brown bass and goggle-eye. We love to float the river, and just about anything else you can do in a beautiful, clean river! The river is a winter home to many bald eagles, so we enjoy taking our binoculars and watching our majestic national symbol in flight.
Other hobbies I enjoy include reading, particularly fantasy, but also sci-fi, action-adventure, westerns, and biographies. I might even occasionally throw in a classic. During football season, I tend to become immersed in fantasy football, to my wife’s disgust. Almost any televised sport can catch my interest, at least for a time. My wife and I also enjoy doing some across America camping in our small camping trailer. We have been to some truly beautiful places!
I have previously taught in Baxter Springs, Caney Valley and Elk Valley in Kansas, and in Webb City in Missouri. Speaking from over 30 years in education, I can say that Columbus has a top-notch school district with very dedicated faculty members and an excellent administrative group. I am very happy to be a part of the Columbus USD 493 school district!
