Mr. Williams working with students

Guest Speaker Scott Williams

by Krista Vilela

Our classes were lucky enough to have Scott Williams come and give us a demonstration about soil.  It has been said that the average person consumes over a bushel of dirt in their lifetime.  Doesn't sound too appetizing, does it?

Tyler and Diggs enjoying their soil

Although it takes a long time to build real soil, Mr. Williams brought in several yummy items to give us a visual representation of soil.  The students made soil out of M&M's, chocolate pudding, sprinkles, crushed chocolate cookies, colored coconut, and gummy worms.  Their soil profiles not only tasted good, but also helped them learn how soil is formed.
