Plus Take Home Questions

Here are the items you need to know for the Test:

 

1. Differences between democracy and dictatorship in terms of who has the power.

2. Differences in dictatorship styles: authoritarian, totalitarian, autocracy, and oligarchy.

3. Four theories of how governments came into existence:: (Force, Divine Right, Evolutionary, and ESPECIALLY Social Contract.)

4. John Locke and Social Contract Theory

5. Natural Rights.

6. What propaganda is (find this on your own!)

7. Parliamentary v. Presidential Style of governments

8. Federal v. Unitary style of governments

9. What kind of govts the following countries have: Brazil, USA, France, and UK

10. 5 foundations of democracy and what they are.

11. Differences of direct democracy and indirect democracies.  (Town hall)

12. What kind of solutions democracies try to make.

13. Why OU is infinitely superior to KU.

14. Just seeing if you were paying attention!

 

 

Here are the take home essay questions: You may choose one of the following two questions.

 

The answers must be typed, and double spaced.

 

1. Name the most important of the six purposes of the US government (six parts of the Preamble.) Give evidence of 2 current real world situations by citing your sources that will give evidence of your thesis.

(form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, secure the blessings of liberty.)

2. Name the most important of the five foundations of democracy. Give evidence of 2 current real world situations by citing your sources that will give evidence of your thesis.

(equality of all persons, majority rule with minority rights, worth of the individual, individual freedoms)

 

These essays are due at the beginning of class. If you do not have it ready, you will be given a 24 hour extension, but you can only get a maximum of 60%. I will score your essay as regular and then multiply it by .6. So I strongly suggest you get it in on time. This is a 75 point test, 50 points multiple choice, 25 points is the take home essay.

 

The citations need to be done in MLA format.
